Team Sicpao Strengthens Waste Segregation Advocacy

Team Sicpao's general objective for addressing improper solid waste management in Barangay Daniel C. Mantos is to increase the number of households that practice proper waste segregation. The most important strategy in order to achieve this goal is by educating the people of the community on how to properly segregate, as per the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003)

For this October 2015 exposure, Team Sicpao strengthens its health education and information dissemination campaign for proper waste segregation by coordinating with the barangay council and elementary school. A series of house-to-house and classroom-to-classroom distribution of "SWM posters" were done, as well as a "Tagisan ng Talino" contest conducted at the DCM Elementary School.

As of October 2015 a total of 150 copies of the SWM Posters were produced and distributed to all household in Puroks 1 & 2 of Brgy DCM, as well as the 17 classrooms in DCM Elementary School. With the continued support of the council and residents, the next goal would be to have a scheduled garbage collection, with emphasis on the municipality-wide policy of 'no segregation, no collection'.
